History
FLC Electronics AB was established in 1993 as a spin-off company from a research group at Chalmers University of Technology in Göteborg, Sweden (see map). The group was world-known from the discovery of Surface-Stabilized Ferroelectric Liquid Crystal structure.
Therefore the company name FLC Electronics - "FLC" stands for Ferroelectric Liquid Crystals.
Advanced research requires advanced instruments and the ones available on the market were not good enough. Hence, we developed a unique series of instruments that quickly became popular not only within the liquid crystal research but are successfully used in a wider range of applications that we could ever imagine - for example in MEMS actuation, EO-modulators, PZT (piezo) positioners, ultrasonics, OLEDs, etc.
